YCI teaches positive decision-making skills to promising youth with risk factors linked to criminal behavior in our Youth Crime Prevention Program.
These youth reflect the diverse racial/ethnicities of Miami-Dade’s juvenile system.

Specially-trained, caring counselors coach individuals to succeed in school, graduate, and lead fulfilling lifestyles. We attain success through academic improvement plans; engaging life skills workshops; one-on-one and group counseling; concepts/strategies for making positive choices; family involvement with parents, caregivers and siblings; and evidenced-based interventions.

Our community and faith-based component strengthens families by tailoring services and supports linked with community resources. Special emphasis is placed on gender-specific strategies. We educate youth on how exposure to violence heightens their risk to physical and emotional security because knowledge is power.

Intervention strategies center on multi-system therapy, empowering students and their parents/caregivers by using tested frameworks to set and accomplish the family’s goals. Positive communication and conflict resolution techniques give students and parents nonviolent tools for resolving life’s conflicts. The main objective of the YCP program is to reduce the incidence of juvenile delinquency and the recidivism rate of young offenders.

Our program addresses the needs of over 100 participants to overcome risks leading to crime and we proudly achieve a 93% successful completion rate!
