Dayhana – Determination + Support = Success!
Dayhana had finished all required high school coursework and had attained a 3.99 grade point average. However, she had not successfully passed the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. Therefore, she was not able to graduate with a high school diploma and instead was given an Option 2 diploma. This type of diploma has limitations, primarily concerning eligibility for college credit, technical, or non-approved vocational programs, as it's not considered a standard diploma for those purposes.
She felt lost, discouraged and that her future was bleak. Thankfully, a neighbor told her about Youth Co-Op and the positive impact it had on him. She visited a local office and was assigned a counselor.
Through our programs, she received the guidance and support she needed to obtain her General Equivalency Diploma (GED). She received assistance with enrolling at George T. Baker Aviation Technical College where she obtained her Power Plant Technician license. With that she was able to begin her career within the Aviation field and is currently studying to receive her Airframe license. Her plan is to continue to grow within her field and enroll in college soon. She stated, “I know I did it all because of Youth Co-Op!”
